Jonathan Powell New Co-Chair of The Will County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division

December 20, 2019

Spesia & Taylor Attorney Jonathon Powell

Spesia & Taylor’s Jonathan Powell and RCK’s Lorien Schoenstedt New Co-Chairs of The Will County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division

On October 3, 2019 the Will County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) held a speaking event at Juliet’s Tavern in downtown Joliet. There, it was announced that former Co-Chairs of the YLD, Jacob Gancarczyk and Tyler Moore, would be stepping down. Taking over as new co-chairs of the YLD are Spesia & Taylor’s Jonathan Powell, and Rathbun Cservenyak, and Kozol’s Lorien Schoenstedt. The YLD thanks Mr. Gancarczyk and Mr. Moore for their hard work and dedication in getting the organization to where it is today. Mr. Powell and Ms. Schoenstedt hope pick up where the former co-chairs left off and continue to grow the organization.

The Young Lawyers Division

The YLD works to engage young lawyers throughout Will County with both the legal community and community-at large. Each year the YLD hosts a number of events that include both social outings (i.e., baseball games and speaking events) as well as community service projects (i.e., assisting organizations like the Northern Illinois Food Bank Habitat for Humanity with local projects). The YLD was fortunate to have Erin Webster O’Brien (founder of Erin Webster O’Brien, P.C. in Joliet), recently named President of the Will County Bar Association, speak at the October 3 event about starting her own firm, what qualities she looks for in associates, what it means to be a member of the Will County Bar, and many other topics directed towards young lawyers.

The YLD’s next event will be assisting at the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Food Pantry at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at 2650 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435 on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 8:30am until 11:30am. Participation is greatly appreciated, and goes a long way towards helping needy families during the holidays!

Look forward to seeing announcements in the near future regarding upcoming YLD events and updates.
