CVS has started earth work on the redevelopment project at the corner of Cedar Road and US Route 30 in New Lenox. Work has also commenced for an adjacent commercial building that was developed as part of the CVS project.
The construction work is the result of four years of efforts by the Village of New Lenox that included the purchase of a gas station and three adjacent businesses and the environmental remediation of the Site. The Village then resubdivided the property and adjacent property that was formerly used for a METRA station parking lot. An easement and Intergovernmental Agreement with METRA were negotiated and approved as part of the project. IDOT also was involved as the project included property dedications and roadway improvements on US Route 30.
According to Firm Partner, Chris Spesia “this was a multifaceted redevelopment project that involved multiple landowners, environmental remediation, releases of restrictive covenants, and approvals from both METRA and IDOT. I was very pleased with the outcome, which will be a new CVS store and commercial center that will anchor a prominent corner in the Village.”
