Utility and Condemnation Groups at Spesia & Taylor Work on Major Water Transmission Project

January 9, 2016

Relying on Spesia & Taylor’ expertise in Utilities and Condemnation law, a major Illinois Public Utility has engaged the Firm to assist in the acquisition of property rights from landowners, and permits from local governments, for the construction of a 20 mile water transmission main from Manteno to University Park, in Kankakee and Will Counties.  Recently, condemnation suits were filed in Will and Kankakee Counties against a very small portion of the property owners, after good faith efforts at acquiring the necessary property interests failed.  Partner Chris Spesia is managing the Firm’s efforts on the project and working closely with the client and the acquisition team.

Spesia said, “This is an important project. It will greatly improve the reliability and quality of water for customers in University Park and the approximately 30 square mile service area. We’re exceptionally pleased to help bring the benefits of this project to the communities that will be served.”
